Handmade Pottery Shard Stud Earrings

Tiny pieces of pottery, given a second life.

Each pair of studs is made from shards of my own handmade pottery that didn’t quite make it, whether that’s a cracked mug, a broken piece or something that simply wasn’t destined for the shelf.

Instead of throwing it away, I break the pottery into smaller pieces and tumble the shards until the edges become beautifully smooth, almost like sea pottery. The smallest pieces are then paired up and turned into these completely unique little studs.

Because every shard started life as a handmade piece of pottery, each pair has its own shape, glaze and markings. They won’t be perfectly identical, but that’s rather the point.
